Brittany MacCartney MCP RCC

Are you feeling alone and that you must bear your troubles in isolation? Fearful that you are the only person with your particular concern? I offer a de-stigmatizing and validating experience to help you feel supported while navigating the stickier and scarier parts of life.
Be it individual, couples, or family counselling, I seek to help our innermost selves to feel seen, understood, loved, and unstuck. I support and normalise through knowledge and specialised training ranging from relationships, intimacy challenges, sex work, sexuality, sexual dysfunction, sexual desire, pelvic floor pain, fantasy/kink/fetish, sex/porn "addiction", life transitions, childhood trauma, sexual trauma, religious trauma, medical trauma, and panic/anxiety.
I ground my work in emotion-focused and trauma-informed care that allows us to slow down and feel the emotions we often ignore in our fast-paced society. I seek to validate first and foremost to help clients shed feelings of shame and feel empowered moving forward.
Don’t suffer alone- let's shrug off the debilitating shame and silence and move forward with a greater sense of confidence and capacity.

I work with adolescents, teens, and adults. I pull from the framework of EFT, IFS, Somatic, Trauma-Informed, and Psychoanalytic. I seek to slow down and tap into the body which I believe holds a wealth of information about who we are and why we are.

Working from Sue Johnson’s Emotion-Focused Therapy framework I seek to understand each partner’s role in creating the stuck cycle that we come to counselling within. I look at relationships from an attachment standpoint to understand how we are showing up for ourselves and our partnerships.

Using Sue Jonhson’s EFFT therapy for families I work to understand how we have created and solidified potentially unhelpful family dynamics. Together we can understand if these dynamics and hierarchies are rigid and unhelpful and work to create more cohesion and fluidity within the family.
